Hello:
I am trying to locate information on my father's birth parents and heritage. Information so far for my father is:
Name: Armand Engelhart Lund
Born : July 25, 1906
Born in Tromso, Norway
He emigrated to Canada April 20, 1927 on the S.S. Bergenfjord via New York...I think the ship landed in New York and then he came to Canada as a fisherman (fisker) ?.
My father's mother's first name was either Filomena or Wilhamena, but last name not known. My father's birth father died in an accident and his mother re-married.
My father had 2 half brothers both younger than him. One brother, lived in Troms, Norway, his name was Erling Andersen. I have lost contact with him. The other half brother's name is Bjorne Nordstrom and must have lived close by to Troms.
I do not have any more names to check on, but know there were some cousins in the USA, perhaps in the Portland Oregon area. Likely all are deceased. The two half brothers may still be alive.
I am anxious to get on with my research, but now do not know where to start, can anyone give me some helpful hints or suggestions. I would truly appreciate it. I would love to hear from any relatives or names of them. Regards, Nancy

Here is his emigrant record:
http://debatt.dagbladet.no/diktkammeret/debatt/read_post.html?board_id=1&post_id=197479&thread_id=197494
When he emigrated he was living in Kvænangen parish, in the northern part of Troms fylke, on the border of Finnmark fylke.
Nordstraumen (Nordstrøm) is a place in Kvænangen parish.
I would think Lund was the name of his father, but that I can't tell for sure.
I can't find any Lunds in Kvænangen in the 1900 census, but there are some in the nearby parishes of Nordreisa, Lyngen and Skjervøy

By the way: It seems that the name of Armand's mother should be Wilhelmina or Wilhelmine. You don't say where you've got Filomena/Wilhamena from, but they are not and have not been names in Norway.
Which source says Armand is born in Tromsø (Tromsø is the largest city and a parish in Troms fylke)?

I always understood Armand's mothers' name was Filomena, but also understood from very old correspondence from Armand's half brother in Norway that Filomena's family originally came from France, then onto Germany, Sweden and then to Norway. I thought this was very strange to believe it could be actually true. I was also told Armand's mother was Swedish. Armand's birth father was killed in a mining accident as far as I have heard.
So far, I do not have any paper records of Armand being born in Tromso, perhaps it was actually Troms and a smaller area/parish or town..... I will do some more research and see if we can find the Naturalization Certificate for Armand or Marriage Certificate for my mother and Armand (my father) in Canada. Many thanks for replying.

Thanks

Hi: I was not able to locate the site you sent me with that address, it came up in Norwegian with what appeared to be a newspaper? I may have done something wrong. Thanks for the information. I am sure that LUND was the name of Armand's father. One of his half brothers had the name Nordstrom and the other half brother with name of Andersen....They had the same mother..... I will check on the parishes that you mentioned. I did obtain a copy of the ship record (Emigrant) information on Digitalarkivet and printed that a week ago, but have not been able to find it again. I am new at this and do have a copy...It also said his ticket was prepaid, so I am assuming someone paid his fare to travel to Canada. Many thanks to you again.

Thanks

The emigrant link turned out to be completely wrong. Here is the correct one:
