Hi,
I understand that you've found them in the 1865-census, but for convenience; here is the links: 1875 1900.

I guess you've tried to locate them in the online 1875-census, but you won't find them there, because the online version for 1875 is not complete. For Østfold county; only the parishes Moss and Skjeberg can be searched.

The Frederikshald (nowadays: Halden) census for 1875 can maybe be viewed at a local library in the Fredrikstad/Halden/Sarpsborg area.

And what happened to their children? I don't think there was any major dissaster in the area at the time you suggest. The spelling of their names might have changed, they might have changed their last name (for example, taken a farm name as a last name). And if they got married; the daughters might very well be listed under their husbands last name in the 1900 census. And they might have emigrated...
The most likely port of emigration would be Fredrikstad or Oslo/Kristiania.
