Is there anyone out there who has access to records from Wiota, Wisconsin in the 1860s and 1870s? I am looking for a very interesting relative of my husband. She is supposed to have emigrated from Sand, Rogaland, Norway, in 1861and immigrated to Wiota, Wisconsin, where there was a Norwegian settlement. We can trace her before her departure and after 1872. Her name was Anna Andersdotter Helland, born in 1841 in Sand. She immigrated in 1861. In 1872 she married Iver Ivarson (occasionally written Iverson) and settled in the neighboring Green County in the Jordan Township. We can follow her from that year. We think she may have been married before that to someone whose name started with M. On her tombstone she is "Anna M. Iverson". She died in 1923 and is buried in the cemetery at Jordan Lutheran Church outside Browntown, Wisconsin. Any information about her whereabouts from 1861-1872 would be greatly appreciated! |
