hope somebody can give me some advice or help. I am looking at tracing a distant relative called jorgen melligan this could be spelt slighlty different as milligan or mellingen. I know that he worked as a seaman for 'white star line' and also possibily on the vessel 'empress of canada' arriving into liverpool around 1928/29 and 1942/43. I also know that i lived in Norway (part unknown) and that he was probably born between 1900-1912. At the moment it feels like a needle in a haystack and would really appreciate - many thanks

Ellis Island has one sailor employed on The Havo, Jorgen Melingen, age 24 arriving on Dec 2 1921.
The 1900 census has a Jorgen Iversen about the correct age living on the Melingen farm in Austevolds, Hordland Click Here . This is a good possibility for the Jorgen you are looking for.
