Do you have any other information, year of birth, etc....?

Flakne (and "Sørflakne", ie "Flakne south") are farms in Selbu, Sør Trøndelag, so that's probably where he originated from.

Here is a link to "Emigrants from Trondheim 1867-1930".
Trondheim is the most likely port of emigration for the people from the Selbu area, and searching for lastname containing "Flakne", you'll find 12 people.

Also, the norwegian 1900-census and the 1865-census would be useful.

The 1920 US census for Sheridan County Montana shows Ole J. Flakne to be 35 yrs old and lists that he was born in Minnesota.
If he took his middle initial from his father's given name you would have a chance to find a J.... Flakne family in earlier Minnesota censuses - hopefully one family with a son named Ole born about 1884.
Yes, in Norman County, Minnesota in the 1900 US census - family of John Flakne born June 1855 in Norway immigrated about 1884, wife Jensine?? K. born Sept 1858 in Norway immigrated about 1885?, son Ole J. born Sept 1884 in Minnesota.
