I am looking for a woman named Kirsten Lyche at birth. She lived on Bennechesvie in Bygdoy (Oslo suburb) until the early 60's, when she married a schoolteacher and went North to teach on an island somewhere (I believe). I do not know her married name but am very anxious to trace her present location.

Have you got any more information, such as approximately year of birth? Any information about her parents? It might help finding her place of birth, which can be used in a search for her in 1865. In 1865 there were 2084 Kirstens in the census.

Do you mean 1960's? There are some in the phonebook, but all are in or near Oslo:

I do mean the 1960s, and the site you sent was helpful. I'd love to send a note to the two who had Kirsten Lyche as the names before their last name, but my Norwegian is pretty rusty and I couldn't figure out whether there's a way to simply e-mail them. Could you help? Tusen takk!

Thanks again to Nina Karls for her lead; after some false starts (and some very good luck!) I finally found the Kirsten Lyche I was looking for.
