Tinn is an area in northern Telemark. Although the spellings used by 'plehne' are not perfect matches to what will be found there in many cases.
The Telelaget forum has a number of regular posters on their message boards who have ancestry from Tinn and seem to have a fairly large collection of resources for the area - searching for living relatives might be great fun for them.
