Yes, they would do that. It might be the case if the economy of the daughter's family was not strong enough to support pauper family members living in with them. The family would then receive support from the parish for the number of paupers living at their home. It was a system called "lægd" where a pauper would be quartered at a farm with the support by the parish. There are some grim examples through the history, of places where the number of paupers became a problem, and the parish officials decided to buy tickets for the paupers to be sent to America.
