If an emigrating family left Hamar in July of 1882, what method of travel would they use to get from Hamar to Christiania?

The railway up to Hamar was completed in 1880, so they could have taken the train all the way from Hamar to Oslo. They might also have gone by steamer til Eidsvoll, then on by train.
