i once found a census of Lars Anderson of Larvik, along with his father, children and his belongings. Can anyone put their hand on that for me? I'd like to get a more exact location of their farm.

Wow, thanks! but how come there are 3 links? I would like to visit this place with my father who is 81, and was hoping I could find out why Lars sold it in 1872 and moved to America. Any hints?

Hi,
for the record, Here is all your postings, Brian.

There are two or three Østby farms in the same area, and they are neighbours, very close to each other.
According to the census, your family lived on the "Østby nordre" farm, which are the northernmost farm of the Østby farms in Larvik.

The other farm would problably be called "Østby søndre", ie. "Østby south"...

If there are more Østby farms in the area, there might for instance be one called "Østby west", "Østby Middle" or "Østby east"...

Hi,
here are some addresses and phonenumbers to people who lives on the Østby Nordre farm today: click here

To dial from the US, youll have to add +47 (or 01147 from a fixed line) in front of the number.
Give them a call or send a letter...
