I am new to this site, so please ignore my mistakes if any.
I would like to find any Norwegian genealogy on my maternal grandmother Anna Ruud. Her maiden name was Wamnes(Vamnes?) and was born on July 6, 1884 in Skiptvet, Norway. I am trying to find the name of the farm she was born on, as well as other parish church records of the area of Skiptvet. Her Father's name was Anton Wamnes and Mother's name was Annette (Maiden name was Gundersen) Hope this information helps. It is all I have on my grandmother at this time. Any information received is very much appreciated.
Regards,
Cockatiel

Hi,

I find one widower "Anton O. Wamnęs" born 1848 in Skibtvet in the 1900 census for Oslo (called Kristiania at that time)

Together with him are 3 of his daughters ( Karen, Bertha and Inga), and 2 foster childs (Karoline & Josefine Skredsvig )

All 5 girls are born in Oslo.

Anna Wamnes are a servant on a different address in the same city.
She looks to be born in Oslo.

Hi again,
I assume Anna emigrated...?

Australia or the US?

I find one Anna Ruud, born Sep. 27th, 1884, going to Jowa, America on Oct. 20th, 1911. Residence says "America", so she's just been home in Norway on a visit. click here
"Jowa" is most likely Iowa.

Does the birthdate fit with your information?
