Looking for any information on Nils Fauske who emigrated from Norway to USA in the early 1900's. Where was he from? Current family?

Have you found more information about your Nils ? Looked him up in the various US censuses? Looked for marriage records, death records and any other pertinent records? Gravestone been studied, obituary looked for?
When was he born? When did he leave Norway? Where in the US did he settle? Were their any family stories about WHERE in Norway he had come from? names of parents or siblings?

There is an online article about what type of information to provide when posting a query hoping that others can help you. We would like to help - but need more info.

Hi,
a possibility from the list of Emigrants from Bergen, Norway, on March 25th, 1909:

  • Nils Jensen Fauske, born 1890, 19yrs, born Nausdal Førde, residence Aarstad, destination Amk Brookings So Dak.
  • Nikolaj Jensen Fauske, born 1892, 17yrs, born Nausdal Førde, residence Nausdal Førde, destination Amk Brookings So Dak.
They are both travelling to their brother. In Brookings, South Dakota?

Probably going to their brother Johannes Andreas Jensen Birkedal (Fauske), who emigrated to Brookings, S.D. in 1906.

Here they are in census 1900, living on the farm Bjørkedalskvien in Naustdal, Sogn & Fjordane. Their parents are Jens Nilssen & Nekoline Johannesdatter.

Map of Sogn & Fjordane. The area is north-east of Bergen. You can locate the city Florø on both maps!

Thank you for your help and i apologize for the lack of information from the USA but I have no resources here. I know that Nils Fauske had to have been in the USA in 1905 because he witnessed and signed the marriage certificate of my grandfather and grandmother Syver Stenseth and Anne Olsen. Another witness to that ceremony was Ingeborg Syversen. I know that Nils Fauske was a cousin of Anne Olsen, my grandmother, because my mother mentioned that when she was alive. He never married and left his farm in North Dakota to my mother. I believe he died in ND around 1930. Again, thanks for your help.

In the 1920 census
FANSKE NELS 52 M W NORW ND MCKENZIE RUD 1920
which is the same location as Syver Stenseth. Can't read the emigration year

In 1910 census
FAUSKE NELS 20 M W NORW MN LINCOLN HANSONVILLE TWP 1910 emigrated in 1909
FAUSKE NICOLAY 18 M W NORW MN LINCOLN HANSONVILLE TWP 1910 emigrated 1909

The last two look like the ones Jan Peter found so if the age for the 1920 Nels is correct, they are not the ones you are looking for.

Naturalization records for North Dakota are on line Click Here and you can order copies. You might get the year of emigration from them.
