Hi. I am having a really hard time looking for my ancestors. My great- grandmother's name was Karen Ask (I do not know her maiden last name). My great grandfather's name was Haakon Ask. My great- grandmother's and great- grandfather's families were friends and that is how they met. My great- grandmother sailed over here on the Lusitania around 1912 and later Haakon came. If someone can help me find some info, it would be much appreciated. Thank you everybody, for taking the time to read this. I am the only one in my family doing genealogy because it is very interesting. I am only 19 years old, so I decided to start early. Hope to hear from someone soon.

It's never too early to start.

In the 1920 and 1930 census for Pleasant Hill, Winona County, MN, Haakon states he immigrated in 1909 and Karen in 1911.

On the Ellis Island Port of New York passenger manifest database:

Karen Annette Hansen, arrived at the Port of New York on August 4, 1911 on the Lusitania from Liverpool.

Haskon Ask, age 19, from Cler, Norway, arrived on the SS Oscar II on December 22, 1909. Father Karl Ask, destination Winona.

Be sure and look at both pages of the manifest, click enlarge, there is alot of information. The database is free but you have to register, it is a little confusing but you only have to do it once.

Lots of info about Haakon and Karen on Rootsweb:

You can contact the person who posted this information

Minnesota Death Index:

Haakon and Karen are both in the index, gives their birth dates. You can order a copy of their death certificate for $8.00

Good luck.
