I have new information on the Simensen sisters and brothers.

First, Elna.Zakarine The parish she belonged to, has informed me that she noticed her parish that she emigrated to Chicago. No adress availble.

She belonged to the Lutheran Evangelich church in Norway. She gave them notice on May 5th 1927, that she no longer wanted to be a member to that particulary congregation (please pardon my grammar) that she was emigrating.

I do not know wheter she joined any church in the US.

Her brother, John Melby gave the same notice on March 3rd 1924, with no adress or destination.

The parish gave also an information that mr. John Melby Simensen have had some contact and may have donated some money to the parish.
But there was no records of this. This may indicate that he made some money?

Their father died in 1931.
Maybe there are someone here with knowledge of Chicago genealogy? I have posted on a "Cook county" site, but I have not gotten any answers.

I have no other information on the others, Aksel Halvard or Rakel Gulethe.

What I find interesting is that Rakel Gulete had an education. Maybe she used this education in the US?

Can Elna be found in the 1930 Census for Chicago?
Or in any other databases? Or anywhere else?

I hope that someone can help me!

Regards,
Berta

I am still looking for information on the Simensen Siblings. I have not yet called the US consulate, but that I will do.

But on the other siblings I have not come any further.

Does anyone have any clues to the decendants of the Simensen siblings, or their familyhistory in the US?

Hi Berta, The Social Security Deaty Index has
JOHN SIMONSEN born 18 Feb 1903 22 died Apr 1999
Last Residence 85373 (Sun City, Maricopa, AZ) State Issued Illinois This is the same birthdate as John Melleby Simensen listed in the emigrant records in the Digitalarkivet. You can order a copy of the social security application which could help determine if this is the correct John and tell you where he lived in Illinois.

Hi Berta, My guess is he worked in Illinois (maybe Chicago) and moved to Arizona when he retired or had a second home there. Sun City is a "retirement community" near Phoenix and Arizona has very nice winters, not cold and windy but the summers are very hot.

Thank you Carla.

Hmm.. I will try and locate this place.

Maybe this could lead to me finding any decendants.

Any thoughts about Aksel Halvard, possble in New Jersey?

I have found the place. And I have sent an email.

So.. now I have to try and find the other ones..

Something tells me that if I find decendants of one of the siblings, I migth find several.

But there are the problem of finding decendants then..

I am thinking a bit of Rakel Gulette Simensen (Simenson) She has a very unusual first name.. Maybe I could start with her?

here is her information:
Rakel Gulethe Simensen. She is listed as a "home-ec teacher".
She emigrates on october 7th, 1930 with the ship "Bergensfjord"

Anyone with Ideas?

I have just learned that the Aksel Simonsen in FT 1920 in New Jersey is not the Aksel Simensen I am looking for.

It has been established that this is another Aksel from Norway.

So. the last information I have is from May 1st 1910, when he is arriving to New York.

Can someone help me locate Aksel's further history in the USA?

For complete information, see the first posting.

I have found that:
Aksel Simensen moved back to Norway, but he was married to a girl/woman named Syntia ( or perhaps Cynthia)

- Elna Moved back to Norway.

Nothing more on Rakel Gulette Simensen

John Melby Simensen died in Arizona but moved there from Illinois in 1977.

Is there any way someone can find Axel and Cyntihia? Perhaps in a census, 1920?

They probably used the name Simonsen.
