I am trying to find any connections with my mother's side of the family. Her maiden name is Aalseth. Other ways it could have been spelled by others is Alseth, Aulseth, possibly Alset.

If anyone could give any help, or point in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate.

Thank You
Sylvia

Probably Ålset farm in Biri parish, Oppland county: The old spelling was Aalseth. 34 persons in Norway today use the surname Aalseth.

Hi You didn't give any names but I did find an old query of yours that mentioned Ole and Jacob Alseth.
In the Emigrants to America from Biri and Snertingdal 1846-1915 database Click Here there is listed OLE JACOBSEN AALSETH-S and family emigrating in 1869. To search in this database just type in aal in the place field. Click on Emigration year to sort by year.
They are listed in the Digitalarkivet Emigrants from Oslo Click Here Ole Jacoobsen Aarset leaving July 02 1869. Click on "Neste" to see the rest of the family.
In the 1865 census they are living on Aalseth søndre Click Here Ole's mother and father are also living there Jakob Ols. and Ingeborg Olsd.

My grandfather worked on the Aalseth Sondre farm in 1875. I have pictures of the farm as of last year. My grandfather and all his siblings worked on the Aalseth farm and took that name from that farm when they came to the USA. I do have a lot of info on the farm and the present day owners. Contact me at rjalseth@yahoo.com if I can be of any help to you.
