I am trying to search for records or information on my mothers grandfather that came from Norway. He was married in Mount Hope in Australia in 1885. He stated on the marriage certificate that he was born in Norway but did not state where or his parents names. He was 36 years of age when he married which means he would have been born 1848/49. If anyone can help me as to where I may find any more information on him it would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou.

The only Forland farms I can find are in Sund, Hordaland.

There have been some postings on this site about Forlands from Sund, Hordaland, go into Forum search.

Try - surnamenavigator.org - search under Norway and Forland - there is some information and contacts there.

Can it be Førland, Tysvær in Rogaland ? Førland is a more common name than Forland in Norway.
