I am looking for any information about Peter and Margrethe Larsen. Their children on the ships list were Hans, Magdalena and Hjalmar but according to family history they had more children. Peter died in 1911 and is buried in the Norsewood Cemetery

Hi,
I believe these "additional" children would have been born on New Zealand...?

There is no extra family members in the Norwegian 1865 census.

Hans Olaus is born on 08 Mar 1858 in Glemmen, Østfold.

The churchbook for Glemmen for 1852 - 1862 are available at LDS, and there's no other children to Peder and Margrethe born there.

Magdalena is born ca 1864, and Hjalmar must be born in 1871.

I don't think this is the same Hans Olaus. The census shows him aged 4 years in 1865, and the emigration and passenger lists have him as 10 years in 1872. Therefore, he must have been born around 1861/1862.

The above child, Hans Olaus born 1858, could be a previous son who had died before 1861.

Hi, Joanne.

Do you have any more information on family members buried at Norsewood? I am doing a project on Norsewood Cemetery (see www.norsewoodcemetery.co.nz). Is it possible that Margrethe was buried as Margaret LARSEN who died 29 Jan 1924? There is also Hans LARSEN (died 6 Nov 1918), and Jalmar LARSEN (died 28 Mar 1899). Are any of these yours?
