Im going to the university in norway and studing folkcostums, bunader and folklore. I want to come in contact with enyone who has old bunader in US81850-1960. I want to make a book about this and need help to come in contact with people who has the right conections or now about someone i can work with.

Vesterheim would be a very good choice. St. Olaf College, in Northfield, MN, may also be a good choice. I have only come across one American reference book on bunader in the US, and it is from California. The book is named "Bunads in America A Norwegian Tradition in Southern California.
More information on book:

Ha det!

I can also recommend Anne Høidahl's book, Bunads in America. A Norwegian Tradition in Southern California. It would probably be a good idea to get in touch with Sons of Norway http://www.sofn.com/home/index.jsp
The Norseman Federation http://www.norseman.no/
and perhaps the Norwegian Seamen's Churches in US cities. http://www.sjomannskirken.no/dt_fullstory.asp?gid=155
You will get a list of the churches in the US by clicking on "Kirker" in the menu at the top. The hosts at these churches are usually very helpful and have a large network on which to draw.
