I am interested in any information about Edward P Strom and his life and family in USA.

So far I know this: He was born in Straumen in Ibestad in Norway 07.07.1882. Died 09.16.1955 in Dakota county.
In the 1900 census in Norway his name is registred as Edvin Palmgren Eriksen, son of Erik Simon Nilsen b 1846 and Perolina Nilsen b 1849. I also have got a list over his siblings.
I belive Strom changed his name when he arrived USA/New York 17.04.1906 with the ship United States (in the Ellis Island records text search his name is written wrong, Edward Slronrm, but the original ship manifest says Edward Strømm)

All I know after his arrival to the USA is his death record.

Greatful for any help

Did Edward have a younger brother named "Aron", about 9 yrs younger?

The 1910 US census shows an Edward Strom living in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. He is listed as 28 yrs old, born in Norway and immigrated to US in 1906. He is married to Bertha Strom, 24 yrs old, born in Norway (immigration yr left blank). They may have been married less than a year and do not yet have any children. Living with them is an Aron Strom, 19 yrs old, born in Norway and immigrated to US in 1910. Edward Strom lists his occupation as a carpenter for a steel works and Aron lists that he is a laborer at odd jobs.

The 1920 US census shows the same married couple still living in Minneapolis. Edward is listed as 37 yrs old, born in Norway and immigrated 1909? He works as a carpenter. His wife is Bertha, 33 yrs old, born in Norway and immigrated 1906. They have 3 children - 9 yr old daughter Bernice, 2 and ?/12 yr old Ernest, and 1 1/12 yr old Arnold.

Thank you for answering. I will check this out.
According to my information about his siblings (see list below) I cant find any "Aron"
But, since Edward did change his surname when he arrived to USA maybe his brother also did? Aron is not a typical norwegian or scandinavian name...

Edward and Bertha Strom had five children, Sylvia (I think her name was originally Bernice), Ernest Palmer, Arnold, Lorraine, and Stanley. Sylvia, Stanley, and my dad (Ernest) have passed away. I will be speaking to Uncle Arnie, and will pass more information on after I have done so. We have all lost contact with Aunt Lorraine, but will try to locate her.

Aunt Sylvia's name was Sylvia Lawler. She lived in New York City most of her life and was a federal government employee.

Dad followed in his father's footsteps and was a carpenter all of his life. He worked for the City of Minneapolis for 38 years as a carpenter foreman.

Uncle Arnie was a real estate professional and an artist. He has seven children.

Aunt Lorraine has four children. She was married to a Robert Smith.

Uncle Stanley was in the military. He and his wife Barbara had two children.

As I understand it, my grandparents made a living by purchasing homes, fixing them up, and selling them. When our grandparents passed away, they left two homes to her children -- a duplex and a triplex.

I married Richard LeCuyer (who was half French and half Norwegian) in 1957.
Richard passed away three years ago. We have two children.

I have worked for the federal govenment for twenty-two years, as has my brother Ronald. Ronald has lived in California for twenty-five years.

We have no information about our family in Norway, and will be most grateful for any that you are able to provide. Also, I will send information from Uncle Arnie.

Hello again, Carla!

Since you have no information about our family in Norway I have a lot to tell you! I can make some files I can send you. I think it will be easiest to send this to your private mailadress instead of using this forum. Is this ok for you?
