Hi from Oz.
Searching for details of my Grt Grt Grandfather ( my mother was an Ellingsen) who left his ship in Melbourne or Geelong in the early 1850s to try his luck in the goldfields.
I have all the details re his marriage (to Katharina Haub) and his children once in Australia. I also have traced his parents TO kRAGERO in Norway (Elling Knudsen and Ane Frederikdatter).
I would like any imformation on his siblings and from what port and on what ship he left Norway?
Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.
BRIAN MCLEAN.

Here's another relative - perhaps you two know each other?

from the link above: Lars Ellingsen, born 11 February 1833, baptised 25 May in? Church, his parents are arbeidsman (working man) Elling Knudsen Smedsbugten and Ane Frederiksdatter. The place called Smedsbugten was listed in Sannikkedal parish previously, but by the 1865 census, it is indicated that it is in the municipality of Kragerø in Telemark. Many of the residents of Smedsbugten listed on the 1865 census are working as sailors or in jobs that support shipping and sailing. Sannikkedal is also spelled Sandøkedal - and Sannidal on older records. C425924 1831 - 1862 0278297, Sannikkedal, Telemark, Pg. 33, child listed as 28 at the bottom of the page.
