Desperately seeking any information regarding the ancestors of the above. Bror Emil Hjalmar may have migrated to South Africa via the British at the time of the Boer War 1900 or about that time. Married to Hilda Kanjela Enstrom (nee Von Breda). |

Bror Emil Hjalmar Enström sounds very swedish..., I'm 99.99% sure he must be from Sweden. Have you looked there?
Van Breda is a dutch surname, so I would guess Hilda is from The Netherlands...? Also since you mention the Boer War and South Africa...

What about this guy?
Bror Emil Hjalmar Enström, sailor, born 1873 in Stockholm, Sweden. Not married (in 1900).
He is the son of Jonas Peter Enström b. 1843 in Molilja (Målilla in Kalmar county, Sweden) and wife Emilia Lewonü b. 1849 in Stockholm. The list shows the employed staff at the Landskrona castle, also called "Citadellet", year 1900. It's located in Skåne county, Sweden.
Landskrona Castle (Citadellet Landskrona) A castle built in 1549 located in Landskrona town between Malmö and Helsingborg. During the 19th and 20th centuries, it was used as a refugee camp, a forced labor facility and even a womens' prison.
Citadellet was used as a prison, and Jonas Peter's occupation reads "bevakningsbefälhavare", which can be translated into "In charge of the security/surveilance staff" at the place.
Siblings to Bror Emil Hjalmar are: Edith Ester Elisabeth, b. 1872 Stockholm Erik Leonard, b. 1875 Stockholm Signe Emilia, b. 1879 Varberg Hertha Alfhild, b. 1884 Landskrona
There's even a big prison in Varberg where his daughter Signe Emilia was born, so Jonas Peter was most likely working at that prison as well...

Hi Jan,
Yes, I only received this information from you recently as I had been unable to do any research for about a year due to very heavy commitments. These have now come to an end so I am once again searching. The info which you gave was one of the biggest breakthroughs we have had in this regard.
Thank you very much for your contribution and I cannot tell you how much we appreciate it.
Cheers
