I'm looking for any info on the Sonsttvet farm in Solum.
According to the 1900 telling, Jonas Larsson and his family
lived there. Any info would be appreciated. Looking for his
descedants. I have traced this family back to Gunder Jonsen
who was born in 1731. Thanks

The owner of the farm Sønsttvet (Gnr 41, Bnr 1) in Solum, Telemark in 1950 was Lars Sønstvedt.

He could be the son to Jonas, but that would make him 80 yo.

Margit and Mary seemed quite busy helping in your most recent thread on the Rootsweb's Telemark message board.

Have you made effort to use the bygdebøk for Solum, Telemark? "Solum Bygds Historie", 2 volumes by Toralf Gjone, both volumes have been copied to LDS microfiche (2 sets of 17 total fiche sheets). Unbelievably inexpensive to order at the nearest Family History Center -- that way you can spend a few dollars to buy a good Norwegian-English dictionary to use to translate the information you'll learn about farm 'Sonsttvet'.
Those books were published in the 1960s - so they could contain information on descendants up until that time period.

As of this writing Solum church books appear to have been added to the scanned church records online of the Digitalarkivet for years 1761-1937.

The Telelaget of America may be another route to learn more about Solum and persons with ancestry in that area.

Is the following a webpage for a Solum based genealogy group?

Yes, they have helped my out quite a bit- and because of
their help, I have learned how to navigate the Norway records- prior to that, I was having a little problem doing so- I can't thank them enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Understanding how everything works,
is very important- believe you me, I really don't like asking for help, bothering people- and I have found a lot of great people that have helped me- and just as they have helped me, I have also helped others- isn't that what this is all about- getting to know each other-working together- I have ordered stuff from the LDS Family History center- not here yet. Posting this question, perhaps I will be able to find someone on this farm that I can communicated directly with- are they my families relatives.
Wouldn't it be nice to find them.

You aren't bothering us - but I'm hoping that you are also looking for a bigger audience - thereby increasing your chances of having a 'relative' spot your queries. This is why I was trying to recommend more websites that might have others specifically interested in Telemark research areas. It could turn out that you are the only descendant of that line currently interested in the family tree - then you'll need to be ready to do original research on your own. Church records, bygdebøker, etc. etc. You are lucky that so much of Solum information is already available online and of course just basically lucky that it is Norwegian research that will reveal the family tree.

I'm very glad to hear that you've visited the LDS Family History Center. I hope you'll order those microfiche of the Solum bygdebøker as I mentioned above. If you've never used a Norwegian bygdebøk before there is a good article or two about them in this collection -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/articles.html
You can also look for volunteers who might already have those books and might be willing to do a few limited lookups for you. Of course, such help is limited in scope - but if you could keep them in mind for a few questions now and then -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~norway/lookups.html
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wgnorway/lookups.html
http://www.rootsweb.com/~bwo/norway.html

A LDS microfiche set is very very inexpensive to order (usually about 15 US cents per sheet in the set) BUT they do usually take a bit longer to arrive at your local Family History Center. Why? I haven't got the slightest idea. I've been a volunteer staff person at my nearest Family History Center for a number of years - I've just noticed that microfiche are slower to arrive after order. But they have a great advantage - they STAY at the Family History Center and do NOT have a time limit in the local area.

FYI- the first link for look ups in that area is not available,
When I tried to e-mail him with the link provided for email
I get my message sent back. I was unaware of the others and
will look into sending them an email. Thanks for the link to the
bygdebok- I printed it out and will study it so I understand
how to use it- Thank you for your info and I can't wait till my
order comes in at the family history center. I have used
them in the past and found the info very useful
once again
thanks

Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you're looking for, but this person lives on the Sønstvedt farm today.
The address for the farm is Gisholtveien 321, N-3739 Skien, Norway.
