I have recently acquired a copy of a page in my great-grandfather's Bible, handwritten by him, Elling Pedersen Enger of Eggedal, Norway. The copy is faint, but it reads:
(Left Norway) der 20 April, 1854, ----til America der 20 Juni.
I have not located a ship with those exact dates. 7 years later his parents came through Quebec so Elling may have also, but don't know for sure. Is there a way to find out the ship name from those dates?

I think it is a pretty close match with the brig Urda departing from Stavanger on Apr. 20 and arriving at Quebec June 22. Unfortunately there are no surviving passenger lists for Quebec before 1865, so it is not possible to confirm it through the manifest. When he writes that he came to America on June 20, you should keep in mind that the ship probably called at the Quarantine station on Grosse Isle a few days before arriving Quebec, and after spending weeks at sea it would feel as arriving America.

Thank you! That very well could be the one. Are there any records in Norway that would tell who left when on what ship?

Thanks. Yes, I have that list from Morch's Sigdal og Eggedal Book IV. I am wondering if there is a record in Norway of the ships the emigrants left on.
