I just came across your post last night - I'm also descended from these people and according to the family history I have, they left from Drammen, Norway in 1854 and arrived in Quebec (not sure if it's the city or the province), from where they went to their first homestead in Hamilton County, Wisconsin. I don't yet know the name of the ship.
I hope to hear from you about your Hellerud connection - I just met a Hellerud second cousin yesterday and the family research is fairly new to me, but we can compare notes if you like. I'm descended from Anders, one of the many children of Helge O. Hellerud and Ingeborg Tollefsrud, who ended up in northern Alberta, Canada.

The son of Helge O. Hellerud and Ingeborg Thoresdatter was born in Flaa, Hallingdal, Buskerud Jan 17 1851, his baptismal record is #27 of Febr 9 same year.
The father "Helge O." is Helge Olsen.

The parents were married Jan 9 1851, see record #2.
Helge was 30 years, living at Hellerud farm and his father was Ole Helgesen.
Ingeborg was 20 years, living at Tollefsrud and her father was Thore Stenersen.

The family moved out from Nes, Buskerud in 1852, most likely May 4, see record #109 with the intention to emigrate to "Amerika".

Ingeborg Thoresdatter was born out of wedlock, most likely on March 24 1830, and baptized May 2, see #109. Her father was bachelor Thore Stenersen at Tollefsrudeie and her mother was Randi Evensdatter at Sæteren.

When Ingeborg was confirmated in 1845 the parents were then husband and wife, see record #5, and the family was living at Stavn in Flaa.

There are many Helge Olsen both in Eggedal and Nes. One of them is "18, he was born at Jellum Oct 31 1820, the parents being Ole Helgesen and Ingeborg Stenersdatter.

If this is the Helge Olsen who married Ingeborg Tollefsdatter in Flaa he must have moved there between his confirmation year and the year he married Ingeborg. So far I have not found any record showing that he moved to Flaa.

Another was confirmated in 1838, 17 years old, see #36, his parents were Ole Helgesen and Kari Ellefsdatter, Engereie.
But he was born July 3 1822

From Leonard Hellerud, their great-grandson, in 1995: "Helge Olsen Hellerud married Ingeborg Thorsdatter Tollefsrud, January 9, 1851 at Hallingdal, Norway. Ingeborg his wife was born March 10, 1850??, Hallingdal, Norway. Helge and his wife, along with his three brothers left for America in 1854 from Drammen, Norway, to Quebec on a sail ship could be a journey taking three weeks. They worked their way from a port in Quebec to their first homestead in Hamilton County, Wisconsin. In 1857, they moved to Norway Lake, Minnesota, where they farmed and lived out their years.

Helge passed away August 6, 1898, and Ingeborg passed away October 6, 1908. They are both buried in the Sunburg Cemetery at Sunburg, Minnesota. Helge O. Hellerud, born October 28, 1820, died August 6, 1898. Backside of headstone: Kari Hellerud, born April 5, 1871, died December 11, 1897."

- I believe one of his brothers must have been Stener Olsen who moved out from Nes, Hallingdal with his wife Christi Ellingsdatter and their children Ingeborg, Sigri and Ragnhild, see #112.

Stener Olsen born Nov 16 1818, see #3, parents Ole Helgesen and Ingebor Stenersdatter, Jellum. (he was the brother of Helge Olsen whos bapt record was referred to earlier.)

Just for clarification. There isn't a Hamilton County, Wisconsin. There is the city or village of Hamilton in LaCrosse County, in western Wisconsin. Many Norwegian immigrants started out in Wisconsin settlements, before moving west.
