Hi, I need some help again. You were so kind to help me on all or my gggrandfather Arnt Torgersen Solem and now I am just figuring out that here in the US 1880 census it has some oleson's listed in the house hold and I thought it was a daughter's husband and now I think it is Ole Torgerson's children. Here is the census record: Household Members: Name Age Arnt Solem 68 Dorthea J. Scott Solem 56 ---this should be Beret J Solem Thomas Solem 26---this is Arnt's son Anna Solem 13--this is Arnt's daughter Ole Oleson 22--this I think is Ole's son born oct 19, 1858 Andrew Oleson 22--this I think is Ole's son born oct 19, 1858 Emma Oleson 35--this person I am not sure of but matches the age of Rasmus --Ole's born july, 24, 1845 except for the first name Thomas Oleson 28--this I think is Ole's son born Apr 30, 1852 Knud Oleson 22--this person I am not sure of Could you help me find out if this is correct and if they came over here with Arnt or later? And would you be able to tell me what happened to Ole Torgerson Harstad and his wife Dordi Bakk. I do not have a death record I can find for them. Thanks |

The 1880 census clearly lists those Olsons as boarders in the Solem household and does not list any family relationship. Emma Oleson in the 1880 census is a female and is unlikely to ever have been known as Rasmus, a male given name.
Did you trace these Olesons in other later records of the vicinity? The 1900, 1910 and 1920 US censuses give information about what year persons immigrated to the US. |
