I am not sure if this message is being posted to the list or to some individual. In either event I would appreciate a reply.
I am having difficulty in making sense of the passengers lists.
I am searching for Gullickson or Halvorson. the Americanized name of Goodlaxson I believe. I can't seem to get any response from these entries.
I would appreciate help from anyone that could explain what I am doing incorrectly.

Hello Evans

Welcome to the Norway Heritage Forums, where you posted your request. There are many here that can help you, but you must give us some more info to go on. What years are you searching? You should note that the database of emigrants is not complete, and there are many ways of searching.

Evans -
Give us full and complete names for the persons you seek and identifying information such as birth year, year of emigration/immigration. If you have any family stories which contained hints about where they lived in Norway, what port they departed from, earlier family names used, and/or parents names please include those bits of data also. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wgnorway/good-queries.htm

You'll find a few persons listed with "Goodlaxson" surname in databases at http://www.familysearch.org/
and/or http://rootsweb.com/
but I didn't find that name in any US census index available to me.

Is it possible to send this information via email? It would be much easier for me. I could send a descendency chart with most of that data on it. I tried but could not do it via this email. Actually I have had some trouble using it.
My address is e2wells@netsignia.net
I trust this would not violate any rules or regulations of the organization.

I am aquainted with those records and have census information for
relatives for 1870/80 and death certs. for the parents.

Well, you know they came before 1870, what are their names?

You have their death certs, you know their ages, approximate birth dates. You don't need to send descendancy charts, a little basic information as outlined by Hopkins is all that is necessary.

Exactly whose immigration record are you looking for?

What is their name(s) and ages?

Where did they settle?

When did they die?

No, I do not accept any family details or decendancy reports by personal direct email.

We've only asked you for simple and specific identifying information ONLY about persons who are now long deceased -- nothing that poses any sort of threat to privacy to living individuals. Information about LIVING persons would have no value in the search for emigrants from Norway before 1900 and is NOT encouraged.

Yes, they emigrated in 1854 from Telemark, Norway. Gunleik/Halvorsson or Gullick/Gullickson/ becomes Americanized Goodlack or Goodlac Goodlaxson.

Gunleik/Halvorsson or Gullick/Gullickson/ becomes Americanized Goodlack or Goodlac Goodlaxson born 17 Nov 1824 or 28 in Sauherad, Telemark, Norway, and wife Margaret

Where did they settle?
Probably Waupun, Fond du Lac co., WI.

When did they die?
Goodlac, 13 Mar 1807, Margaret , 6 Feb 1898

Goodlac's parents: Gunleik Halvorson and Ingeborg Tolvsdatter.
Their children: Holvor Oliver Gunleikson, Tolv Gullickson and my relative Gullick Gullickson.
Holvor or Holver left Havre, Norway on the ship Argo on Jun 23 1843 arrived Port of NY 26 July 1843. I would like to view the pessenger info of this party as well as Goodlac"s if that is possible.

Evans

The transcribed passenger list for that 1843 voyage of the ship ARGO can be viewed here -
http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_list.asp?jo=2197
(found by searching for ship name ARGO)

Halvor Gulliksen, his wife Mari Einersdtr and their two Norway born sons, Gullik and Ener are entries numbered 236-239 on that list. If you wish to see the original passenger list you can review the US National Archives microfilm reel # 52, no 513. You might also be able to find a microfilm copy of that original passenger list through an LDS Family History Center.

I find no transcribed entry for Gullik Gulliksen and his wife Margith Bryjulfsdtr leaving Norway in 1854. I agree that is when they left Norway - but no matching passenger list has been transcribed for this website.

Most members of these families appear to have settled early in Oakfield area of Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin and at least one of the cousins (Ener, son of Halvor) later moved to Palo Alto County, Iowa. You will find them in those areas in various US census enumerations with a pretty good variety of name spelling variations.

Thank you very much for the trouble you went to on my behalf. I don't believe I could have found that information no matter how hard I tried or how long I took. As it was I worked on it for two to three hours and always come up empty.
Thnaks again, Evans
