I try to locate the emmigration of moter/child Tora Engina Francesca Sivertsen and Helga Johansen or Eivindsen or Sivertsen. Emmigration took place 1921 (Oct. 27 ??) on Bergensfjord to NY. Tora was born in Vefsn 1895 and Helga was born in Vefsn around 1912-1914. Her grandchildren say she was 7 years old at emmigration. They may have ended up in Douglas, Minnesota.
Is there a passengerlist available? Could they be mentioned in the US 1930-cencus?

I'll try out these sites hoping to find mine and other peoples ancestors.

On the Morse Ellis Island database:

http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/

Arrived March 24, 1921 on the Bergensfjord to the Port of New York. Christiania to New York
Hanna F. Sivertsen, 62, widowed
Helga I (J) Sivertsen, 7, child
Vefsen, Norway
Destination - Douglas, MN

The passenger list is on two pages. It is free but you will have to register.

Maybe Tora came earlier. You should be able to find them in the Digitalarkivet emigration records.

Here is Helga Ivara and Hanna leaving Trondheim in 1921:

Here is Thora Siverts. from Vefsen to Douglas, MN on October 27, 1914, her date of birth is 1895:

Did Helga move back to Norway? Where are her grandchildren, U.S. or Norway? More information would be helpful to find them in the census.

Thank you Jo Anne. That was just what I needed. According to my information from decendants in USA Tora and Helga went together in 1921. But Helga actually went with her grandmother, Hanna in 1921 after Helgas mother, Tora went over 1914, short after she had given birth to Helga who was an illegitimed child. (Easy - isn't it?)
Helga stayed in USA. She visited Noway 1971, but noone here seem to remember who she visited.
Now Helgas granddoughter, Norma is expected here late June and she has asked me to look into her family.
So thanks again.

I'll try out these sites hoping to find mine and other peoples ancestors.
