There is one Louise Lange listed in the Kristiansund emigration records for 1899: 1899 Aug. 23 K 47 1852 U Sypike Nesset Romsdal Seattle Ja Allanlinjen: Digitalarkivet
She is listed as born 1852, most likely a typo? If this is the correct person she emigrated via England, and departed from there on a ship belonging to the Allan Line. You can find more information about the line on this site: Allan Line history and fleet list, and Authorization & Routes in 1899.

Well, I'll add another name to the list. Here is Nille and Andreas in the 1865 census with a daughter, Loise, age 4 in the Vistdal parish of Næsset on the Lange farm.

Molde is another separate parish from Vistdal. Maybe this Loise died but in 1882 Nille would have been 49.
Where did she settle? |

This gets FASCINATING. How many Norwegian Louise Lange's can there have been?
The 'Lovise' from Lange farm in Vistdal that Jo Anne spotted in the 1865 census - was born 28 July 1861, baptised 8 Sept 1861. (Source - Scanned parish registers at Digitalarkivet website, Vistdal 1846-1879, page 20.)
In 1900 US census a Louisa Lange born in Norway appears in Seattle, King Co., Washington. She lists birth as Jan or Jun of 1883 and the immigration year MIGHT be 1899 but is almost illegible. That census lists other Louise/Louisa Lange females - but that was the only Norway born that I could spot. |
