I am also interested in obtaining information on my grandfather, Carl Larsen. He came from Denmark but came to the Chicago area as that was where his sister Elsa and Mads Jensen and brother Peter lived. Peter and Carl's last name in Denmark was Pederson but dropped the Pederson when they came to America and went by Larsen. Is there any info on Else and Mads and where would I look to find the ship on which he would have emigrated. I believe he came in 1889. I know that he is not of Norwegian descent but married my grandmother, Lena Gaard, who was Norwegian. I think they would have met in the Kendall, Illinois area as that is where he became a naturalized citizen. They then moved to southern Minnesota around 1900. Again, I appreciate any information you can give me.

Check for US church records where Carl and his family might have been members. Check for old church records in Kendall county, southern Minnesota (unspecified area of detail). Look for these records through the LDS library, through the Lutheran? church archive locations (more than one synod possible - keep that in mind), etc, Lutheran ministers were usually very good about making notes of the original baptism and/or confirmation location of new members of the congregation. If you can find some notation of a district or parish name - Norway or Denmark - you've just found genealogy GOLD!
