I would like to find any information regarding Andrew Ronding, or any of the spelling listed who came from Sigdal, Norway in either 1902 or 1907. He is listed as a shipbuilder on his draft registration card in 1918. He lived in Brook Park, MN in 1920 and in Duluth, MN in 1930. He was married in Clarkfield, MN in 1910. Thank you for your help.

This could be your Andrew's emigration in 1903. There are Rødningen farms in the 1900 census - in 0621 Sigdals, Buskerud in the digital archives.

Hello.
I think Anders Ronningen was that man that was living toogether with his parents in 1900 together also together with his siter Turid., and some other brothers.

They was in Kodalen nedre, but both Turi and Anders was also living together at a place called Berg. Their father Stener Helliksen Kodalen. I'm sorry but I have not any copi of the farm and familybook from that area. The mother was Kristi Nilsdaughter , Kodalen.

Regards from Norway

You can find them here:

http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/

It will connect you to the free Ellis Island database but you will have to register to access the information.

Anders S. Ronningen, 18 from Sydal and
Turi Ronningen, 27 from Sydal arrived at the Port of New York on March 25, 1903. They left Glascow on May 16, 1903 traveling on the ship Columbia. The were going to uncle Knud Skasland in Boyd (Lac qui Parle county) Minnesota.

There is alot of information and pictures of the Columbia (2) on this site, it was brand new in 1903.

Hello.
I found the family in the Family and farmsbook from Sigdal/Eggedal III on page 1182.

They was at time living on the farm Berget nedre. Also called Rødningen..

The family was:
Stener Helliksen 1842 - 1911 , married ( 1867) to Kristi Nilsdaughter ,Øya a place under Frøvoll farm in Eggedal 1844 - 1911.

. They got following kids:
1. Mari 1868 , left for the US 1893,
2. Hellik 1870 left for the US
3. Nils 1872 married in the same area and staid there,
4. Helge 1874, left for the US.
5. Turi 1875 left for the US 1903 together with Anders. She married in the US to Andrew Holte,
6. Olaug 1878, diied same year,
7. Ellef 1879 marreid twice , staid in Hovet in Øvre Eiker in Buskerud county,
8. Ole 1883, married and staid in Kodalen, not far away,
9. Anders born 1885 left to US in 1903.

All the brothers and sisters that left for the US settled down in Minnesota.

Father to Stener Helliksen was Hellik Helgesen. He bought the farm Nedre Berget and Bølesrødningen in 1846 for 468 spd. He is written on the place Persplasssen under the Søland farm in Eggedal.

That's all I know.
Regards
Tormod

HELLO TORMOD:

What does this mean?
" ,Øya a place under Frøvoll farm in Eggedal 1844 - 1911."

And can you explain what this means also - what is 468 spd?
What is Persplassen?
"Father to Stener Helliksen was Hellik Helgesen. He bought the farm Nedre Berget and Bølesrødningen in 1846 for 468 spd. He is written on the place Persplasssen under the Søland farm in Eggedal."

Is there any other information on Hellick Helgesen or his wife Siri Nilsdr? They were married 01 APR 1798 in Eggedal.
Thank you so much for your help. With the information that you gave me, I have found several more ancestors.

Lorene

Here is Helge & Siri in the 1801 census with two children and his parents, Hellick and Guri:

They were on the Frøvold farm which ties into previous information.
Since you are new to using Digitalarkivet, when you go to print out the census, Hide Search Field and print in Landscape.

There is a link on this site to a good dictionary to use for translating these old records.

Here is Stener in the 1865 census with his parents and grandfather, Ellef at Berget nedre:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=4&filnamn=f60621&gardpostnr=797&personpostnr=4272&merk=4272#ovre

The Sigdal/Eggedal parish records are available on line, later records for you but has the moving out records:

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_id=1219

Searching on Digitalarkivet takes a little bit of a learning curve.
