I am the gggranddaughter of Ole Olsen and Berit Olsen, who came to America in 1852 with their baby Marit Olsdatter. I do not know what happened to Marit, but the family went directly to Ole Bull' colony in PA. Does anyone know of a list of all of the immigrants who came to Oleana on the Incognito in Sept. of 1852? Also, my gggrandfather Ole Olsen Teppen and family came to Oleana in 1857 and left in 1858. Both families ended up in Trempeleau Cty, Wis. I am looking for any info at all on the first of my family to come to America. Ole Olsens are from Hedmark and the Teppens are from Solor.

There was a fairly recent book published about Oleana -

Other information appears available in the collection of the Norwegian-American Historical Association.

There is much information on this site to help you besides the posted passenger list.

If you go into "Forum Search" and type in Ole Bull, several past postings will come up with information and contacts.

Also, the Links section will direct to you organizations from your area that could help you in your research.

Here is the NAHA link, just type in Ole Bull and there will be more information:

http://www.naha.stolaf.edu/publications/volume12/vol12_4.htm

More information on your people would be helpful, birthdates, etc. There isn't much more common name to search for than Ole Olsen.

Thank you for the information. Ole Olsen was born12/12/1808 in Strommen, Alvdal, Hedmark. They also went by the name Strum or Strom or Strommen in the USA. Berit Paulsen was born July 7, 1810 Paurenget, Alvdal, Hedmark. They were married Dec. 27, 1834. Ole seems to have used the name Olsen, but my ggrandfather entered the Civil War under the name Paul Strum. Ole died Feb. 8, 1879 and Berit (Bertha) died in 1894-both died in Blair, Wis. Trempeleau Cty
