I sent you the image just now.

I found Olaf's emigration at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=15&filnamn=emikra1&gardpostnr=80816&merk=80816#ovre

I tried to do a lookup at Ellis Islad for hiom 'cause I wanted to have a look at the image; often it tells to whom and where the imigrant was supposed to go.

I could not find it; did you look it up?

Sorry; the only Diserud I find in 1906 is a "Albert".

However; if you have found him have you been looking at the scanned image?

The Ellis Island record for Olaf Dieserud from 1906 says Last residence Soldier, Tenn. (not Iowa).

The 1900 US census put him in Soldier, Monona County, Iowa. Soldier would appear to be the name of a township (a section of the county). There is also a very small town by the name of Soldier there.

In the 1900 census done on June 6, 1900, Olof's birthdate is given as July 1867 (these could be off 1 year in either direction). Was this his birthdate?

If you do a google.com search, information on Soldier, Iowa will come up.

Take another look at the Ellis Island database, it is incorrectly transcribed on the index as Soldier, Tenn., should be Soldier, Iowa. Look closely at the writing on the original manifest, it is clearly Iowa, it is just an old script writing, especially of the capital letter "I",

Also, when he emigrated in 1886 on the Marsdin, it was a feeder ship that took him to Hull, England and from there to Liverpool to get his final ship to America. The agent listed was Gjemre who was an agent for the American Line which operated a route to Philadelphia.

Found Oskar & Ingeborg Frydenlund emigrating from Kristiania on February 23, 1906 but the link isn't working.

Some more points on the Ellis Island database:

Olaf & Oskar & Ingeborg traveled Second Cabin class which meant they were processed for immigration aboard ship, not on Ellis Island.

On the manifest, Oskar & Ingeborg are also going to Solider, Iowa, friend Olaf Dieserud. The were also from N. Aurdal and they arrived together to New York so they must have known each other and traveled together and Olaf was their sponsor.

Olaf is clearly an American citizen.

Sure cannot find Olaf's emigration in 1906

In my entry Posted - 03/09/2006 : 22:38:04 I wrote Soldier IOWA because that's what's written on the origfinal manifest.

Notice I also found him in Soldier; Iowa, Census 1900 indexed as "Olof" Disrud.

I have also searced ALL the Norwegian emigrant ports for him in 1906; no result (so far)

Yes, I know. I pointed it out because there had been other references to Tenn. and that needed to be eliminated as a place to research.

Maybe Olaf wasn't in the Police Protocols in 1906 because he was an American citizen? Somehow
he and Oskar and Ingeborg got together and sailed together.
