Gunhilda Moltzau b 07 June 1864 in Hurdal, Norway - father Hans Moltzau, mother Mathea (Roserud) Moltzau....Hans and his family emigrated to United States in 1867.....I can not trace Gunhilda from the date of emigration.

Hans settled in Wisconsin, first in Bostwick area and then purchased a farm near Strum...where he lived the rest of his life.

I am searching for GUNHILDA Moltzau.....any help greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
Bev Porter Moltzau

Bev;

maybe you already have found the family in Census 1865:http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=16&filnamn=f60239&gardpostnr=305&personpostnr=1795&merk=1795#ovre

I also searhed for the family's emigration. Probably the port was Kristiania (Oslo).
The records was taken from 1867; but my experience is many of the '67-emigrants can't be found there.

However; there's a "Bygedebook" from Hurdal parish.
I don't have it; but put a message at the Norwegian Digial Archive (with ALL the info you have about the family):http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebDebatt.exe?slag=listtema&debatt=brukar&spraak=e

went to Trempealeau County, Wisconsin where they lived the rest of their lives. Hans and

Their two youngest children, Daniel and Emma were born in Trempealeau County.
Mathea died during childbirth in 1877, she and her infant twins are buried together in the

Bev - You found the child was still alive when they debarked in Quebec 1867? She is NOT listed in the family group in 1880 US census (just her father and two children) ... but is she possibly listed in the US 1870 census as 'Hulda" - age about 2 years younger than brother Paul and born in Norway.
Have you checked local death and/or marriage records of Trempealeau County? Was that daughter listed in local confirmation classes of the pertinent church where her parents settled?

Hopkins;

yes; "Hulda" has to be Gunhilda. If you look at the Norw. 1865 Census it shows the children.

I also noticed she was missing at the 1880 Census.
I have been looking for her as married at both the ordinary 1880-Census and also at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?spraak=e

(go to Censuses / Norwegians in the US)

Of course it's not so easy because of name changing; but IF she was married at the age of 17 she probably stayed not so far away from her father?

I haven't found anyone yet.
Probably you're on the track: She died before after 1870, but before 1880
