Question for Borge Solem

I am traveling from Canada in May, 2007 to Oslo and to Tune, Norway where my grandfather Wilhelm Hansen was born in 1902. His father Olaf Hansen was listed as a Sailor, First Mate in the 1900 Tune census (he was listed as away in Liverpool).

Where do you suggest that I could to look for his merchant marine records? Archives in Oslo, Skiebeg or Sarpsborg? Or the Marine Museum in Oslo? He died in 1907.

Your article suggested I give advance notice to the research institutions

Thanks for any help you can give me!

That area should be covered by the archives in Oslo. I recommend that you send them an e-mail for further instructions: statsarkivet.oslo@arkivverket.no
