I am trying to find the "Byfoged Chrisite". It was built in Sandåason, Kragerø in 1881. It was owned by A. Terkelsen and skippered by Chr. Irgens and Th. Olsen. It was left sinking of the coast of Uruaguay, at Montevideo, on 5 March 1888.

It docked in the Port of Melbourne, Australia around the beginning of February 1883.

Does anyone have any information on this vessel, what it carried, where it set sail and its course? I am trying to track it down and cant find any other information.

Thanks
Allison

Hi, I've tried to search for this ship, but haven't found any information about it.

I guess the ship is named after Johan Koren Christie (1827-1907), from Skien, Telemark.

He was a Byfoged in Kragerø, and also a member of the Norwegian Parliament.

Byfoged: "public registrar and notary public"

Thanks for that.

I cant find anything on it either, I wonder if it was under another name as well? Is there anyway I can find what line A. Terkelsen owned these ships? I would assume if he had one skooner, he would have had at least a couple more?

Thankyou though, one step closer to finding him.
