The book "Norwegian immigrants to the United States : a biographical directory 1825-1850" volume 1 1825-1843 may have mention of such an early family to arrive. Check these websites for persons owning that book who have volunteered to do 'look-ups'. You may want to include the information of birthyears for Lars and Martha - just to help identify them. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wgnorway/lookups.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~norway/lookups.html
The book also appears to be available on LDS microfilm # 1224643 Item 13.

Lars and Martha are mentioned on page 19 of the 1st book on emigration by Gerhard B. Naeseth, but there is no data of where they went in the USA.
1836 Norden, arrived in New York from Stavanger, July 20, 1836, Tønnes Willemsin, captain. Henry J Cadbury described this list in his "Four Immigrant Shiploads of 1836 and 1837" Studies and Records, I I: 20 - 32; it is also analyzed in Utvandere fra Rogaland, published in 1942: 23 - 24
11. (Lars Nielsen Hellen), s. of Niels Larsen Tysvaer, bp. in Hjelmeland, Jan 21,1810 m. 1836
12. Martha Deodors Praestegaarden, bp. Jan 9, 1814, dau. of Aad Andersen Praestegaarden and Anna Bjørndsdatter. -- Hjelemeland, Nor., par. rec. ; Stud. and Rec. , I I: 24, 28 Hjelmeland, I I: 349, 356 |
