I search for Ole Andersen (Jogerud) born 11 March 1863. He left Christiania (Oslo 29 Septeber 1887) and arrived in New York 13 October 1887. His goal was Eau Claire. I can not find him in the Ellis Island records or in any Census list. Somebody able to help me out?

The Ellis Island Immigration Center did not begin operation until 1892.

www.castlegarden.org has a free online database for New York Arrivals, it is almost complete.

Ancestry.com has free access to it's Immigration database until December 31, 2006 and, supposedly, you do not have to give your credit card information to register.
