Hello All

First of all, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Lets's hope this one brings peace.

Can anyone tell me where and how I might find seamen's registers from 1884? My gr-grandfather emigrated in 1884, and I suspect mayhave been one of those sailor's who
disappeared after reaching NY.

I know he was born in 1864, but I've not been able to confirm
his birthplace in Norway.

Those records are in Norway and are held in various archives - depending upon the district for which the registers were collected.

Børge Solem explains that well near the end of his article on this website about the seaman's registers.
