Information I have got on one son of my gggparents indicates that they settled in Walsh county around 1872. Their names are Ole Andersen Krogstad and Else Christoffersdatter. Their eldest son Andreas born 1840 may also have lived in Walsh county, he later on, 1894, moved to Lincoln county, Oregon where his younger brother Otto lived.
Can anyone find data confirming that my gggparents and their children lived in Walsh county?

Walsh County wasn't even established until 1881. Notice that it isn't listed in the 1880 US census.

Otto Krogstad appears to be briefly mentioned in a pre-1900 newspaper of Milton, Cavalier County, North Dakota
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nd/cavalier/newspaper/milglobe/1896-00.txt

The 1880 US census captures Otto 'Kragstad' or 'Kingstad' in Volga, Brookings, Dakota Territory, 20 years old, still single.
Also you will find Ole A. Krogstad, wife Elsie and 15 yr old son, John in Brookings County, Dakota Territory.

I'm confused, didn't we just look all these people up?

Thank you, Ole A. and Elsie are the right ones - I do not understand that John is their son however, in my list of children the youngest one is Carl Bernard and he should also be 15 years in 1880.

That you found Otto - the druggist being "briefly mentioned" and his whereabouts is just amazing!

I don't know anyone with expertise in North Dakota (or Dakota Territory before they became states) research.
If it were my research problem I'd probably start by studying these websites AND the LDS library catalog-

You are right Jo Anne, I should have continued in the former posting - Sorry!
It is the same family, but in this posting you have helped me to locate Ole A. and his wife Elsie - thank you!
I am also grateful for all the new "clicks" and unfortunately Carla, the O.O does not belong to my Krogstad family.
