My great grandfathers ( Amund Lunning and Johannes Brække)) immigrated in 1870 and 1881 from Norway. I am looking for photos of the two ships. The S/S Marathon, Cunard line and the Theresa (Line unknown). I have found info about both ships but no photos.Any links to photos? |

Thanks to both of you. I was able to print off a picture of the Marathon from that last website, and I will write to the address suggested for info about the Theresa |

Could this be the steamer that you're looking for? Teresa, in an 1885 painting:

I do not think it is the same ship/different spellings-Theresa/Teresa. Many times the same name was used for many ships and when ships were sold they were given new names.

Hi Susieq, My great great grandfather is also Amund Lunning, coming over on the Theresa in 1870. My lineage goes from Amund to son, Michel, then his daughter, Theresa (named after the ship), her daughter, Barbara, to me. Wanted to say hi to a distant cousin... |
