Seeking information on a ship named "Talabot" (possible "S.S." but with a Norwegian captain & crew). It sailed in 1925. According to the 1900 ships tally on Digitalarkiv, the Talabot had its homeport in Tonsberg. It seems to have been a cargo ship that carried passengers.

Hi,
what is your source for the ship sailing in 1925? A quick search revealed 3 ships being named Talabot, but none of them could have operated in 1925...

M/S Talabot
Shipping company: Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, Tønsberg
Build: 1881 in Newcaste, England
Ran aground 15-sep-1914 at Lagskjær lighthouse, Finland, on voyage from Grangemouth, England to Gävle, Sweden. The cargo was charcoal. All the lighthouses along the Russian/Finnish coastline was switched off (WWI).

M/S Talabot
Shipping company: Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, Tønsberg
Build: 1936 in Gothenburg, Sweden

M/S Talabot
Shipping company: Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, Tønsberg
Build: 1946 in Gothenburg, Sweden

The name TALABOT came from a french engineer Paulin TALABOT who contructed the first long distance railroad over mountains and canyons in France, and had a great idea of making a channel from the Red-Sea to the Mediterrean.

Thank you for the information!

My source is a photograph taken in 1925 on the deck of the S.S. (?) Talabot. The picture was taken in New York Harbor. The Talabot's captain was said to have been Martin Andreas Larsen of Stavern.
