Me again.....I'm looking for the passenger list(s) that have Knud Arnesen and Johanna Jonsdatter on it (them). They either travelled at the same time or they met and married in Quebec. I looked under 1858, 1859, 1860, but couldn't find them. They both left Stryn, but I'm not sure when. Knud(t) Arnesens bd is 8 Dec 1834 and Johanna Jonsdtr's is 26 Jun 1832. They married in Quebec on 5 Jan 1861 and had a son, Albert, b 16 Dec 1861 in Quebec. What I'm looking for are the dates they left Norway. They arrived in the States (Minnesota) around 1863 where they had more children. I also know that some of Knud's siblings came to the States too, but I can't find them either. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Tami

Hi, this is likely Knud Arnesen´s Confirm record, Opstryn, Nov. 4. 1849, nr 5, age 15 on farm Bø. Note: "taaelig vel oplyst i deres Kristendomkunnskab" - Suitable well enlightened in Christianity. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=2002&idx_id=2002&uid=ny&idx_side=-120. Maybe it´s easier to find his siblings if we know his parents: Arne Rasmussen Ytre (outher) Bøe and Synnøve Larsdatter Glomnæs, married on June 26. 1826. Fathers: Rasmus Arnesen Yttre Bøe and Lars Knudsen Glomnæs. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=4&filnamn=INNV15VI&sokpostnr=11#aO
Thanks for the correction Tami.

Thanks, Kåre! Knud Arnesen was confirmed in 1849....His parents are Arne Rasmussen and Synneve Larsdtr who married on 25 Jun 1826 in Stryn. I was looking for his migration records along with his wife Johanna Dorothea Jonsdatter (altho, they didn't get married until after they were in Quebec). I appreciate you looking this up for me, though!!

Canadian passenger arrival records before 1865 do not exist. You'll find the links to Canadian sites from this webpage which will verify that.
If you look at what emigration records leaving the west coast of Norway (Digitalarkivet is another good place to check) you'll notice that those are also minimal.
But they are available for you to check.

I found Knud Arnesen leaving Stryn in 1854 going to Nordland, then I lose him from there. I guess he left in 1859 from Trondheim. Where is Trondheim? Is that the spelling? Is that on the west coast of Norway?

Thank you Hopkins for your suggestion!

You can find Trondheim in almost any world atlas (old or new), through use of ANY Internet search engine, or even using the mapping website given to you just days ago!

Perhaps you should RE-READ the articles here about Hunting Passenger Lists. Chapter 1 "Emigration Records - Sources" would be a good start.
