I have spent the day trying to locate records of my gr grandfather. JOHAN BERNHOF HANSON (EN). He was born January 10, 1866 in Christiansen. I have searched through church records, emmigration records(He came to the US in 1892) , census information with no luck. Perhaps one of the more experienced can please help me. Anything would be appreciated.

Thankyou

Thank you for finding this. I don't have much more info on John. I am checking with family older than I to see we can tell if it is the right one, but I think it is.

Thank you ..

I was wondering where "Christiansen" would be....?

There is no city in Norway called Christiansen. At that time, there were cities named Christiania, Christiansand and Christiansund, but nothing called Christiansen.

You said that he married a girl from Trondheim, which he probably knew before she emigrated..., you said she went to America to marry him. So there is big chance that they met in Norway.
And the distance between Christiania and Trondheim is 540 km...

My guess is that Johan Bernhof Hansen is from Trøndelag or possibly Christiansund in Møre & Romsdal....

You are probably right on family names. This info is coming from memories of others, I do not have anything to back up the city name of the city.
