Hello Liv,

My name is Vicki and Karen Hansdt (Hanson) is my great great grandmother. She was married to Bernt Arneson. I'm a little confused about Karen and Olia's dates of birth. I know Karen was born in 1846, in which you have 1844 and you have Olia's year of birth in 1846, could this be a typo error? Also, all 9 of the Hanson's you have listed, are these all Karen's siblings? I have been searching and searching to find the names of Karen (and Bernt's) parents and siblings. I have not been doing genealogy too long, I'm still learning. During my search I have found a picture of Karen and Bernt posted on Ancestry.com. I was so very excited to find that and to see what they looked like. I would Greatly appreciate any help you could offer. Thank You so much and for posting your topic, it alone has helped me a great deal.
Sincerely, Vicki Thurston

The family in 1865.

Hans Eriksen and Marte Olsdatter were married Dec 28 1845, see #75.

Karens confirmation record is #97 - in Oct 1858 she was 15 1/2 years old.

The baptismal records will help to sort out any problems.
Eli - not found
Karen, most likely the one born June 20 1843, her baptismal record is #169 - she was born out of wedlock, father Hans Eriksen, Aaserud and Berte Johansdatter, Fagernęsbakkebraaten.
(Hans Eriksen had fathered a child before Karen - could it be Eli?)
Engebret - not found
Olia, see #78,
Maria, see #38,
Ole, see #207,
Hans, see #154,
Erik, see #403,
Andreas, see #164,
Karelius, see #46,
Sigvard, see #218.

Bernt Arnesen was born Jan 9 1834 and baptized March 9, see Top record left page. His parents were Arne Eriksen, Kalvberget and Marte Bentsdatter.

Arne Eriksen, Kalvberget and Marte Bentsdatter, Aasen were married April 25 1822, see #35.

Thank You Einar. I have the information on Karen and Bernt once they reached America. I have pictures of their gravesite/headstones as well as their obituaries but all is saying that Karen was born in March 28, 1946. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just don't want to add something to my family tree that may not be true. I will research the info you have given me and see what I come up with. Thanks again, I truly appreciate your help.

Hi Vicki,
If it's just her birthdate that you question (not parish of origin father's name, etc.) then you have the opportunity of searching the parish registers of Vinger yourself for any Karen Hansdatter born on 28 Mar 1846. If you don't find her in the baptisms also search the confirmations for the double assurance. The parish registers are free to search for anyone who has Internet capability at the Norwegian digital archives.

- you probably mean 1846 was her birth year.
It would be beneficial to validate that the info on the headstone and in the obituary is correct.

Info available in Norway indicate that it is more likely that she was born 1843 - 1844, she was said to be 22 years when she married in 1866 and she was 15 1/2 years when she was confirmated late in 1858.

I'm sorry Einer, yes I did mean 1846. I appreciate your help and I am sure the Karen Hansdt you posted is my Karen, was just confused about the dates of birth being off, and wondering why it would be off so much. I have the same date of marriage for Karen and Bernt as you have. I will research using the dates you have given me, I'm sure I will have better luck. Thank You again!

jkmarler, Thank You and I will continue to search further.

I am very greatful for everyone's help ... Thank You again.
