Hello, looking for immigration information on
Sivert (Syver) Oleson Haugen born abt 1797 in Norway, his family and ancestors. I believe he immigrated to America after 1854 settling in Goodhue County Minnesota with his daughter and sons. I know he was in Goodhue in 1867 with his sons and daughter Kristi. Sons are listed as Siversons and Haugens in census records. I believe his wife Berit died in 1846 in Norway. Berits fathers name was possibly Knute. He ended up traveling to South Dakota to live with his daughter Kristi Haugen Thompson. Kristi married John Thompson, son of Guttorm Johnsen Kirkeby from Meraker immigrated 1854?). I have a great deal of information oh John and his family here in America. Kristi and John Thompson were the first Norwegian settlers in Minnehaha County SD. Local Norwegian history called her a good Valders girl? If that helps figure out where Sivert Haugen came from. I have also seen Kristi as being listed from Hedalen, Sør-Aurdal, Oppland, Norway? Sivert O Haugen is buried in the Norwegian Pioneer Cemetery North of Sioux Falls, SD. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Paul

You've got a really good clue there in "Valders". Here is a link to read a bit at Wikipedia:

Are the grandparents listed both Syvers? It looks like one is his and the other is his wifes? Wondering because of the Mand and Huustrue names?

Hello, the page with the birth record for Guttorm Joensen has 1809 on it? I can't see the 1808?

Guttorm Joensens birth year corrected, sorry for the mistake.

From the 1801 census:
Syvert Olsen and Jøran Thorsdatter are the parents of Ole Syvertsen, the father of Syvert Olsen and Harald Olsen.
Thor Syvertsen is the brother of Ole Syvertsen.
