I just found this site, so hope that I am not asking a question that might have been answered before. My mother came to New York in 1920 and told me that she had traveled on the Oscar II from England. I cannot find any departure on this site which indicated that the Oscar II departed from England in that year. Can anyone guide me to such departures, or is it possible that my mother was incorrect in the ship name? Many thanks for any and all information and assistance. Charlie
This site only lists "Norwegian" affiliated departures/arrivals. If your Mother came to New York in 1920 she would be found on the Ellis Island database. This is the best search engine for the database, start with the Main Form:
Only third class (steerage) passengers were processed at Ellis Island, all other classes were processed aboard ship. The database includes all classes of passengers as well as passengers that did not disembark in New York and proceeded on to other ports.
Jo Anne, Thanks very much. She did not process through Ellis Island. I appreciate your clarification on this site dealing primarily with Norwegian arrival and departures. I wasn't sure if the ships at times left Norway, stopped in England, and then proceeded to other ports. Thanks again, Charlie
