I am trying to figure who Anna Andreassen was. My great grandmother Martha Ensrud, later Julseth had letters from her and even some pictures. She was from Oslo, Norway and Martha was from Gran, Norway, but went to America in 1904. Apparently Anna visited her at least once and had relatives in New York. I know this information is pretty vague, but I would like to try to figure who she was and if there is any connection as far as relations go!
Thanks
Tim |

Hi, This might be a needle in a haystack.
I´ll dont bring up any records, only the names of your great grandmother Martha (Pedersdr) Ensrud´s closets family, perhaps the link to Anna Andrassen might be connected to some of these people?
Martha/Marthe was born on Ensrud Sep. 5. 1883, Christened Nov. 18. Her godparents were Randi Gudmundsdr Ensrud, Marte Fredriksdr Flaagen, Hans Olsen Melaaas in Lunner parish, Hans Paulsen and Hans Olsen, both from Ensrud Father was Peder Olsen Ensrud born 1837 in Gran parish Mother was Kari Olsdatter born 1847 Fathers mother was Anne Larsdr born about 1801 in Hadeland parish
Or is the solution closer than expected? Gran 1900: Young Anna Andreasdr born 1891 on Bjĝrklund in Gran living with her grandparents with her younger brother Nils, perhaps the Anna you are seeking?

I believe Anna was married and therefore Andreassen would have been her married name. I believe one of the times she came to visit my great grandmother was in the early 1950's. |

I see Tim, sorry, but it seems only a coincidence can bring her up. Andreassen is a common Norwegian name used by about 11 000 acc. the phone-list.
1950 isn´t fare back in time, perhaps a name, a letter, something new could be a clue.

I recently found two pieces of info that might help further put together this puzzle. I found a card with Anna Lyngstad on one and A. B. Andreassen on the other. A. B. Andreassen's has Borglund, Sondmore, Norge listed on it as well as Minneapolis, Minn.
Anna's card has Gran, Hadeland, Norge and Minneapolis, Minn. listed on it. Maybe this information could help. I have photos of these two in their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1910 and 1912. I think they may have had homes in both the United States and Oslo, Norway. |

When did you say your great grandmother came to US? There is a Martha Hansdatter Lyngdal coming to US in 1879 from Gran also.... |

This thread is actually about a relative of my great grandmother. I am trying to figure out how she (Martha Ensrud) and Anna Lyngstad Andreasen are related. I know that Anna was still living in 1958 as she sent my great grandmother a picture of herself that year. |

Great-grandmother Marthe Pedersen Enserud b abt 1883 from Gran, Oppland, Norway, arrived age 21 at Ellis Island, New York, USA, 26 Nov 1904. Traveling to cousin Hans Fredriksen in Watson, Chippewa county, Minnesota. Watson is very near Montevideo, Chippewa, Minnesota.
Much more that is related to this topic on the link below. In the baptismal sponsors for Hans Fredericksen Kolkind notice And. Hans., Lyngstad.: http://www.norwayheritage.com/snitz/pop_printer_friendly.asp?TOPIC_ID=2739
This may be the brother Peter - Emigration in 1903 of Ole Peter Andersen Lyngstad, age 18, from Oslo to Minnesota: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=EMIOSLO&gardpostnr=143728&merk=143728#ovre
Ole Peter "Pete" A Lyngstad died 1944 in South Dakota; he appears on a number of family trees on Ancestry.com
from jwiborg on the other thread:: From the Christening records in Gran 1880 - 1888: Ole Peter, born 11-mar-1885, christened 05-apr-1885 Parents: Anders Hansen Lyngstad b. 1849 and Else Larsdatter b. 1856
Here is his mother Else, siblings Ingeborg b. 1877, Hans b. 1879, and Anna b.1887 on the Lyngstad farm in Gran in census-1900. Else/Elise is a widow, so husband Anders Hansen Lyngstad is dead. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f00534&gardpostnr=445&personpostnr=2818&merk=2818#ovre
So it is highly likely "Anna Lyngstad" is Anna Elise Andersen Lyngstad of Gran, Oppland, Norway, born about 1887.
She appears on the Naas Family Tree on Ancestry.com.
