Hi, sorry that my English let you understand we are distant cousins, but perhaps since I have 18 farms in Sandsvær in my family tree.
But you have for sure living relatives in this area, I´ll try to find out for you after taking this family back into the history of Kongsberg town founded 1624, this family might be an important part of this history.
Ingers parents: Torsten Hansen Grosvold married Mari Anundsdatter Brende in Hedenstad church Mai 9. 1807, left page from bottom #2
Jacobs parents: Christen Herbrandsen Lindaas and Inger Kristine Jørgensdatter Øen (Øyen) born on Hvam married Nov. 6. 1796, left page from top #3

Brende means burn, likely the land was clearded by the use of fire, either man maid or after a forest fire.
Joke or fact? The Saga tells about a hostile pack or group of men from the Oppland area (north of Oslo) and Sweden raiding Sandsvær. At a farm named Hostvedt they met hard resistance from the locals and had to withdraw to Grosvoldkroken. The farmer on Solli laughed and made a fool of the men for losing the battle, they got angry, chased him away and burned down all of the houses.
From that day Solli (Sunny hillside) was named Brende.

Also 8 people from Grovold emigrated with them on Rollo to Grand Rapids. Halvor Olsen Brende born 1707 and his wife Ingeborg Olsdatter Ristvedt born 1706 split the farm about 1775 betwen the two sons Ole and Anund, Anund got Nordre (Northern) and Ole got Søndre (Southern) Brende. In 1777 they set up a contract "Flerfødningskontrakt" that secured them free room and food for the rest of their life including the rigtht to use horse and wagon when they was going to the church. Each son got 400 Rdl and each daughter got 200 Rdl, total 1400 rdl, a large sum of money.

Their parents Kristoffer Brende and Arne Grosvold tried to sell the silver in Skien town, but was arrested by the sheriff and Arne Grosvold was forced to tell where the silver was found (The kings property). One year late the Kongsberg Silve Mines was established.

Hi and thank you. I enjoy to find out most about the persons I am working with, how they lived etc.
It wouldn´t surprise me if the origin of the Jacob-Jacobsen name in your family is coming from the young shepard and the discoverer of the Silver, Jacob Grosvold.
There are photos of the farms in some local books i can send you private.
To find living relatives can be a puzzle even it must be at least "half of Sandsvær", but because the farms might have been sold several times its hard to follow daughters and sons.
Some of the church records are closed (1927) because of protection of any possible sensitve information of living people, "the 80 years rule", but it might work.
I bring up more persons to put into your familytree first:
Christen Herbrandsen Lindaas 1774-1831 was son of: Herbrand Halsteinsen Lindaas born about 1720, died 1783, soldier in 1751 and his 2. wife Sigrid Eriksdatter Dalseie 1747-1792. Sigrid marrien 2.time with Jon Olsen Garder in 1784.
Herbrand Halstensen was son of: Halsten Torgersen Lehovd b. a. 1678 in Flesberg parish about 20 miles north of Kongsberg, he died 1737. Halsten bought Lindaas for 250 Rdl (Riksdaler) in 1716. Three years earlier he married Torgunn Herbrandsdatter Evju (Sandsvær) b. a. 1682, died 1739
