Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe b. 1856, 7th Feb, from Dovre, Oppland, emigrated to USA in the year 1879 and went to live in Manchato(?), Minnesota. Anyone who knows of her whereabouts?

Whereabouts? You mean where is she buried?

"Manchato" might have meant the city of Mankato, in Blue Earth Co., Minnesota.

Hi In the 1865 Norwegian census I saw that Mari had a brother named Erland. The Blue Earth County Minnesota cemetary index has a listing for ERLAND ELLEFSON LINDSOE Click Here Erland is listed in the 1880 US census in Lincoln, Blue Earth county and living with or near them is Erland Kelley married to a Mary Kelley. Click Here the next page has Mary and a daughter Claire listed.
This could be a possibility for for Mari.

In the 1900 census Erland & Mary are listed. Still living in Lincoln, Blue Earth county. Mary list's 1879 as her year of emmigration her birthday is listed as Feb 1856 so pretty sure this is her. They have been married 20 years and she has had 6 children.
Clara born Sept 1879 (was Mari married before she left Norway?)
Ida Oct 1881
Simon Dec 1884
Edmond Sept 1887
Amel Oct 1890
Anna Feb 1892

Thank you all. Sorry about my bad english, Hopkins, I just meant what became of them in USA. To Brining: Erlend and Mary (Mari) were brother and sister. The children that you list may be either Erlend´s or Mari´s, or a mixture of both´s. Do you have any possibility to look for marriages of Erlend and Mari?

It appears quite likely that the sister Mary/ Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe became Mary Kelly when she married Norwegian born "Erland Kelly" shortly before 1880.

Clara born Sept 1879 must be the the same as Clarrie A. Kelley (3m) from census-1880, thus daughter of Erland & Mary Kelley...?

Census 1880 for Lincoln, Blue Earth, Minnesota:
Erland Kelley (31), farmer, born in Norway
Mary Kelley (25), wife, born in Norway
Clarrie A. Kelley (3m), daughter, born in Minnesota

Next house:
Erland Lindse (32), farmer, born in Norway
Carrie Lindse (28), wife, born in Norway
Ida T. Lindse (3), daughter, born in Minnesota
Anna M. Lindse (11m), daughter, born in Minnesota

And yes, Erland Kelley must be Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe's husband.

Erland Kelley must be the same as Erland Syversen from the Killie Noregaard farm, Dovre, Oppland census-1865

Erland Killie (29) from Daavre emigrated to Monkato Minnesota on June 13th, 1879.

I could not find a good match for Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe in the emi. records.

But there are two girls listed just above Erland Killie in the emigration records from June 13th, 1879.

Could Marie Lunde (23) from Daavre be a misspelling (or more likely a transcription error?) for his future wife Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe ?

If Clara is born Sept 1879, Mari(t) must have been pregnant at the time of Erlands emigration. Maybe they emigrated together, and married just after arrival in Minnesota...?

A check in the original emigration records at Statsarkivet-Oslo could verify if #50091' lastname in the EMIOSLO database should read Lindsoe rather than Lunde...

Some confusing entries:

Mary Lindsoe
Marit Eellefsdatter Lindsoe Her age doesn't fit (married 8 years old...), but could she be your Mari(t) Ellefsdtr. Lindsoe? If so; who is Trond Per Estensen Lien...?

Be very wary of entries to the IGI (International Genealogical Index) submitted by individuals and NOT based on any given source documentation. Many of those entries are VERY wrong - coming from people who didn't understand Norwegian naming practices and who never did any verification of their information.

If an entry found in the IGI does list a source - you should be able to click on that link and see the name of the source and the LDS microfilm/fiche that the information was taken from. Those entries are usually far more reliable and can be verified by comparison with the source material.

Maria actually had 3 brothers, Erland, Hans & Tore! My name is Michael Scott Lindsoe Jr., I go by Scott Lindsoe and live in Prior Lake Minnesota, USA. I come from the Erland side. Erland married Kari Thoreson and had 6 kids: Ida, Anna, Elias, Thorvald, Anton and Kaia. I come from Elias who married Petra Jacobson and they had one child: Virgil. Then Petra died and Elias married Signe Pladsen in 1911 and had 10 kids: Ronald, Ardis, Helen, Ogden, Orvah, Mabel, Melva, Sharon Maud, Shirley & James. Ogden was my Grandfater, he married Arlene Schwanz and had 4 kids: Steve, Michael, Bob & Charles. Michael is my father and he married Terry Ellen Smith and had 2 kids: Michael (Scott) Lindsoe Jr. (1969) and Cory Michael Lindsoe (1972). I married Kristin Jensen and have 3 kids: Hannah Madison (1998), John Michael (2001) and Katherine Claire (2004).

My family tree information stops at Eilef Lindsoe & Ingrid Killi. If you have any information I would love to see it! Please email me at slindsoe@efalcontech.com

Ellef Thoresen Nørstegaard (Lindsoe) & Ingri Erlandsdatter Killie married Febr 20 1836, see #6
Ellef was 25 years old and his father was Thore Syversen.
Ingri was 18 years old and her father was Erland Olsen.
Ellef (Ellev) was baptized Dec 26 1809, see top of left hand page here
his parents were Tore Sivertsen Nørstegaard and Anne Ellevsdatter.
This is Ellevs parents and his brother in 1801.
Ellevs grandparents Siver Toresen and Jørraand Olsdatter are also living at the farm.
Ingri was born Sept 13 and baptized Sept 14 1817, see third record from bottom left hand page here
her parents were Erland Erlansen and Marit Syversdatter.
This is Ingris parents without children in 1801
2036 to 2040 is most likely Erlands parents and siblings.

So it looks like:

Eilef Thorsen Nøstegaard (Lindsoe) & Ingrid Erlandsdatter Killie (9.13.1817)

Tore Sivertsen Nøstegaard & Anne Ellevsdatter (Eilef’s Parents)
Erland Erlansen & Marit Syversdatter (Ingrid’s Parrents)

Siver Toresen & Jørraand Olsdatter (Tore’s Parents, Eilef's Grandparents)

Is Siver & Jørraand as far back as the records go? And are their birth/death records? Is ther a place to find records regarding the location, etc... about the Lindsoe farm?

Thank you for your help.

Scott Lindsoe

Church records for Dovre (Lesja), Oppland, Norway are available for years as early as 1724.
You can find those records for your use either on LDS microfilm or in the scanned church records collection of the Digitlarkivet.

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

The Digitalarkivet web site has been adding scanned images of the original Norwegian parish church records for anyone with Internet access since November 2005.

The Digitalarkivet web site - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar
An English option is available by clicking on that word from either the left hand column or the blue link bar along the bottom of the homepage.
The scanned images are available from the homepage link "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] which is listed along the left hand column and from the blue banner of links along the top section of the homepage.
After you've clicked on that link and a new main page has presented on the screen be sure and read the instructions that are available from the Digitalarkivet for navigating the scanned records. The instructions are available in Bokmål (official Norwegian), Nyorsk (Norwegian), Davvisámegiella (Saami), and English.
Recommended basic reading are the "Startsiden" [Norwegian version]/"Main page" [English version], "Brukerveiledning" [Norwegian version]/"User's guide" [English version] and "Om tjenesten" [Norwegian version]/"About this service" [English version].
