You guys have all been insanely helpful with my know-nothing-ness about all of this stuff and I really appreciate it.

I was also looking for some information on the other side of my family: Nerheim/Nerem and Tjeranson

so far I have a little info on Carl J E Nerheim (my ggrandfather, 1881-1933). Born in 1881 in Norway, emigrated to the Us in 1903. Fathered 6 children; Lawrence, Tjeran, Selmer, Marvin, Gerhart, and Lucille. I have found his ww1 draft card but not a lot of other documentation for him. I know this isnt much to go off of, but I also know you guys are great at this

He was married to Paulena Tjeranson (b Aug 1879 in Illinois). Her parents were Tjeran Tjeranson (b 1834, Norway, arrived in the Us in 1864 ) and Sarah (b 1840 in norway, arr in US 1885)

BTW, all of my info is coming from records on ancestry.com but the trail is pretty well dead from that point on for me. Again, any help is appreciated.

PS - if you would like to see recods that I have used for info in the post, I can easily refer you to the family tree on ancestry. Thanks again!

The Nerheim farms are located in that part of Fjelberg, Hordaland which later became Ølen and which has undergone a number of jurisdictional changes since then.

The information I can find about Tjeran Tjeranson would lead me to believe that he came from either Etne or Skånevik, Hordaland. (Source: http://www.familysearch.org)
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8783&idx_id=8783&uid=ny&idx_side=-18

1900 he lives in Lake township, Humboldt Co., Iowa and his wife lists her year of immigration as 1864.

One of Carl "Nerem" and Pauline's daughters (Aldean) lived in Corwith, Hancock County, Iowa. (Erdmans, Shipmans, Nerems were all over tiny Corwith at one time.) One of Aldean's daughters sisters (Lucille) married a Hoveland of Clarion. (Source: Aldean Shipman obituary). Aldean's older brother Tjeran Nerem died in 1992 - leaving wife Florence and daughter Kristi.
